The manure is finally ready!!

Finally, we have taken the manure out of our toilet.

We would like to tell you how we did.

On 25 May, in the Baula area, where we built our first toilet, we invited officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Traditional Authority, an influential local authority, and took out the manure.

Many interested farmers from the Njebule group in Baula as well as from Edundu and Lusangazi attended the day.

Here is what the manure actually looked like after it was taken out. As expected, the stools were broken down well and turned into compost manure. The farmers were also able to actually touch it. It looks same as soil or manure, and there seems to be no resistance to using it as manure for people.

The safety of manure had already been assured as a result of research, but by actually seeing and touching it, I think that the feelings of aversion and avoidance against manure made from human waste have been further reduced.
