Yu Tokunaga, Associate Professor of History, wins the Shimizu Hiroshi Award of the Japanese Association for American Studies

Yu Tokunaga, Associate Professor of History with a joint appointment at the Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies, Kyoto University, has won the Shimizu Hiroshi Award of the Japanese Association for American Studies (JAAS) for his book Transborder Los Angeles: An Unknown Transpacific History of Japanese-Mexican Relations (University of California Press, 2022). The award ceremony was held on June 3rd at the annual meeting of the JAAS.

 

The Shimizu Hiroshi Award is given annually for excellent first books written mainly by young scholars.
